Introduction

Want to feel 18 Again! (1988), well in something over 9½ Weeks (1986) you will have to explain to your kids one Saturday morning About Last Night (1986) at the Breakfast Club (1985) because you will have spent the previous evening making All The Right Moves (1983) which will probably have left you feeling like The Blob (1988).  That's right folks, time to beat the Blues(,) Brothers (1980) and forget The Big Chill (1983).

That's right SPARKLE is getting Back To The Future (1983) and hitting the 80's.  Time to forget that you are Married with Children and show us The Color of Money (1986) whilst getting into some Dirty Dancing (1987) and generally behaving like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988).  Get your Footloose (1984) and show us your Flashdance (1983).

Lads, you don't have to wear a Full Metal Jacket (1987) or Stripes (1981) but please try to remember to do up The Fly (1986). Come on guys lets show some Uncommon Valor (1983) and dress with A View to (a) Kill (1985).

Ladies, it's the 80's, you don't have to be The Untouchables (1987) – time to dress like a Lethal Weapon (1987) and leave your kids saying “My (Step)mother is an Alien” (1988). Girls Just Want To Have Fun (1985) so whether you are Pretty In Pink  (1986) or a Lady in White (1986) you can Blame It On The Night (1986) because there's No Way Out (1987) of this Risky Business (1983).

Get the picture (pun intended).  For those of you who have not experienced the SPARKLE event before it is best described as a bunch of parent's getting together, looking as silly as they are ever likely to look but feeling as good as they are ever likely to feel and raising lots of stuff to fill The Money Pit (1986).  This year's event is 80's themed and attendees are required to dress appropriately – this helps one to forget the Hill Street Blues and relive the Happy Days.

Nine To Five (1980)

The work stuff.  Before we can party we have to prep and that involves a few things:

We need Silent Auction Items (2009) – that isn't the year, its how many we need! Holiday houses and such are fantastic as we always manage to shift them and the auction is a tremendous marketing channel – no REALLY!  Anything much else that has value would be welcomed by our team of Silent Auction Designing Women (who)

The children will be working on class artworks which tend to raise lots of money as guilt, ego, alcohol, ego and guilt work together.  You will be hearing (or have heard) about this from your class parents as many classes need parent help in putting these classic collectibles together.

We will also be putting together hampers so if you have good things to put in a hamper or want to help organise please let (who) know.

We need a new wishlist – which is a list of items needed for the school collected from parents, teachers and Mrs Smith.  This list gets vetted and approved then put up on our SPARKLE web site (coming soon) so you can donate directly to items that are near and dear to your hearts.  If you have suggestions please forward them to (who).

As we get closer we will need more and we will tell you about it but for now the key things are mark the calendar (Friday 21st August) and send in wish list and silent auction things.

For those of you who did not see the web site two years ago, you will be able to make wishlist donations, silent and noisy auction bids (the noisy auction bids serve to give us a starting point on the night) and, new this year, book tables online (more on that later).

Things To Do

1.Start organising a table (most tables will be for 8) ready to book as soon as we open.

2.Find fanstastic items for the silent auction and tell us about them (ideally a default value, some great description and a picture).

3.Give us any suggestions for the wishlist.

I 'm so excited, and I just can't hide it – I'm about to lose control and I think I like it.
